What is nitrogen fertilizer and what are the types of nitrogen fertilizer?
Nitrogen is also an indispensable element for plants. How much do you know about nitrogen fertilizer?
What is nitrogen fertilizer
Nitrogen fertilizer is a chemical fertilizer that contains nitrogen, which is the nutrient element of crops. Elemental nitrogen plays a very important role in crop growth. It is a component of amino acids in plants, a component of protein, and a component of chlorophyll that plays a decisive role in photosynthesis of plants.
Nitrogen can also help the division of crops. The application of nitrogen fertilizer can not only increase the yield of agricultural products, but also improve the quality of agricultural products. Nitrogen fertilizer is also a kind of inorganic salt.
Types of Nitrogen Fertilizers
1. Nitrate nitrogen fertilizer
Nitrate nitrogen fertilizers include sodium nitrate (NaNO3), calcium nitrate {Ca(NO3)2}, ammonium nitrate (NH4NO3) and so on.
Common characteristics of nitrate nitrogen:
(1) It is easily soluble in water and moves quickly in the soil.
(2) NO3-absorption is the main absorption, and crops can easily absorb nitrate.
(3) Nitrate fertilizer has no inhibitory effect on the absorption of calcium, magnesium, potassium and other nutrients by crops.
(4) Nitrate is a negatively charged anion and cannot be adsorbed by soil colloids.
(5) Nitrate is easily reduced to gaseous state (NO, N2O, N2) through denitrification, and escapes from the soil.
2. Ammonium nitrogen fertilizer
Ammonium nitrogen fertilizers include ammonium bicarbonate (NH4HCO3), ammonium sulfate {(NH4)2SO4}, ammonium chloride (NH4Cl), ammonia (NH3.H2O), liquid ammonia (NH3), etc.
Common characteristics of ammonium nitrogen fertilizer:
(1) Ammonium nitrogen fertilizer is easily adsorbed by soil colloids, and part of it enters the crystal layer of clay minerals.
(2) Ammonium nitrogen is easily oxidized to become nitrate.
(3) Ammonia is easily volatile and lost in an alkaline environment.
(4) High-concentration ammonium nitrogen is prone to poisoning crops.
(5) Excessive absorption of ammonium nitrogen by crops has a certain inhibitory effect on the absorption of calcium, magnesium and potassium.
3. Amide nitrogen fertilizer
Amide nitrogen fertilizer-urea {CO(NH2)2}, containing N46.[1]7%, is a fertilizer containing nitrogen in solid nitrogen.
